In October 2013, my husband and I purchased our first property—a charming townhouse in Sydney’s prestigious Northern Beaches for $855K. Just two and a half years later, in February 2016, we sold it for $1.25M, securing a profit of $395K.
At the time, we didn’t have the luxury of a full 20% deposit and had to navigate the costs of Lenders Mortgage Insurance (LMI). Yet, rather than seeing it as a setback, we leveraged the equity from our first property to propel us toward our next opportunity—this time with the advantage of a full deposit.
In January 2016, we acquired a residence for $1.2M. Fast forward to July 2023, and that same property sold for an impressive $3.38M, yielding a staggering $1.68M profit. Few investments offer such remarkable returns, and this experience cemented my belief in the unparalleled potential of real estate.
